Wait for it.

Hi there. You might be wondering why this blog became inactive after my tilt smile post - I have been busy doing schoolwork and being an officer. I can say that this school year has been the most interesting yet in my college life.

But don't you worry, child. This blog will be back, not with a fizzle but with a BANG!

2014. Wait for it.

The history of my Tilt Smile

As promised, here's how my tilt smile came about.

There are other variations of this smile - it can be called the "commercial smile", the "cheer smile" or the "eksenadora smile". This is my own take on it. I have no copyright claim on it. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead,is purely coincidental. Chos!

In case you don't know what my tilt smile is, it's a half open smile with your head tilting on either left or right on the count of three. It depends on the situation. Usually, I do tilt smiles using the front camera of my iPod touch; now I'm using my SLR camera. The people doing tilt smiles with me are often called "victims" and I usually approach them.

Photo diary: Paandar, BU5 style!

"Paandar" is the term sometimes used, meaning to start something and that something is to get attention. -Lifelines, Philippine Daily Inquirer

Since I won a free pass for BU5, I decided to do something different for that event.

I have been doing this tilt smile ever since the year started, and what better way to do that again is with bloggers! The last famous person to do the tilt smile with me was Risa Hontiveros. Click here to find out how my tilt smile came about. Here are some of the bloggers whom I've "victimized" with the smile. Individual hi-res photos after the jump.

Bloggers United 5!

Poster courtesy of Madhouse MNL

Bloggers United is actually a familiar event for me. I knew it started last year, but for some reason I wasn't able to attend the past 4 events. It's either I don't have the transportation to go there or I don't have money.
It was the fifth installment, and I told myself that I better attend this one. I believe in the acronym YOLO - You Only Live Once, so I better start doing things before regretting it

What's in a name?

I'm one of the billions of people in the world that was given a unique name. I could have had common names like Alex, Sam, Paul, Tim, Richard... Some common name that is easy to pronounce.

In case you guys didn't know, my given name is Alrenz Jaimoe. Yes, I can imagine you saying, "Wow, that's a unique name," or "How do you even pronounce it?" I was given a unique name. But before you judge, here's how my name came about.

Alrenz is a combination of two names. Al- came from... It's a debatable topic. It's either I got it either from my paternal grandmother (Alfonsa) or my maternal grandfather (Alejandro). And the -renz came from my father's name (Florencio).

Jaimoe came from the name of the drummer of the Allman Brothers Band, one of my father's favorite bands.

There, you can now judge. I'm kidding.

Of course, there came a point in my life where I hated my name. I hated how I have to pronounce it twice because people can't understand my name. I've been called names like, "Alex," "Aldrin," "Alrex," and just recently, "Aileen". I know. Why. When I was in second grade, I became fascinated with the name "Richard" and wanted to add it on my name.

In college (my first one), one of my blockmates decided to call me "Al." I've used my name in my first college. However, after one incident that happened to me, I decided to switch schools. I also realized that I wasn't able to show my personality because I used part of my name. It was on the next school where I used my real name. That school happened to be my high school alma mater.

Eventually, I accepted my real name. I thought, if I were to change my name, I wouldn't show my personality, the real me. I've come to realize that -- your name defines who you are as a person. It's that thing that makes you unique from everyone else.

With that, hello and welcome to my blog. Enjoy.
